Our Befriending service is a life-line for older people who have found they have become lonely and isolated. Each person needing our support is carefully matched with a volunteer and the effect is almost instant.
The friendships can last for many years and be the highlight of their weeks. Cecil in Keynsham told us: “The sun comes out when Nichola visits.”

Do you know someone who needs a bit more support around the home? Such as shopping, cleaning or getting to appointments?
Our At Home service could make a big difference right away. Visit our website to find out more.
Our Information and Advice team can help older people claim benefits they’re owed so that they can live more comfortable lives.
So far this year we have claimed around £835,000 that people were owed.
So many take cutting their own toenails for granted, but losing the ability to do so can really affect you.
Maureen uses our toenail cutting service and told us:
“This service is amazing. it alleviates the pain in my toes when my nails get too long as I can’t cut them myself. This service makes me feel a sense of independence and very great comfort enabling me to walk better. The service is great and enhances our lives with the great kindness and consideration of all the staff that help and look after us. Thank you all.”
Our day centres can be a lifeline for older people who find it hard to connect with their community. We provide transport, a hot meal, entertainment and activities.
Sylvia goes to our Keynsham centre, she told us: “It is wonderful. Everyone is so kind and helpful and I would recommend it to anyone. I feel ‘important’ again.”
We run four Walking football groups across B&NES, giving older men the opportunity to meet friends and take part in exercise again.
“After having been diagnosed with terminal cancer, and having two major ops, I didn’t think it would be possible to do any exercise. I feel the Walking Football has had a tremendous effect on me, and my personal outlook has changed since taking up sport again. Would definitely recommend to other people.” Harry.
It really is for everyone!
